Title: Auto-finalise.. and then what?
Post by: freedome on July 22, 2011, 06:05 pm
Hi,

a customer of mine hasn't hit the 'received' button and won't reply to any of my messages.

It has just past the 'auto-finalise' time which I assumed would just literally 'auto-finalise' but it now says 'auto-finalise 2 hours pastdue'..

Will it ever automatically release the coins to me? I'm almost certain the customer has received the goods and is just holding out on me.

Regards.

What a pain in the ass right?
Its 20 days 6 hours then it will finalize.

There is no telling what the buyers problem is though. Hopefully not some stupid kid buying BTC on his parents credit card.

Perhap a deux ex-machina is needed?  Then all will be well with the world?   Sorry, I just had to...

But can you imagine: you've explained beer in your room before.  But a charge on Daddy's VISA for oxycontin?   Hmmm....

But more seriously: this is an issue of etiquette on a new kind of board; one with escrow privileges.  So, this should be covered in the "online buying for newbies FAQ".

I don't even sell on SR but it gripes me to hear so many times that people don't finalize their orders.  Honest sellers are our friends; let's treat them as such.  :)

I thought auto finalize released the bitcoin immediately to the Vendor.
Is this not right?

I'm in agreement with your attitude towards sellers  Another thing new people are unaware of, and causes hard feelings and hard time financially to sellers.  I always do it within about fifteen minutes of receiving product, if I haven't lifted escrow early in the first place.  If I've already lifted escrow, I'll post on here, and let seller/other buyers know it arrived safely.

yes, autofinalize releases btc to the seller after 20 days, 6 hours.  The auto-finalize counts down to 0 at 20 days, then says "overdue x hours" up to 6 hours, when the BTC are released.

I'm a seller - this drives me nuts.  Customers need to finalize as soon as they have the product in their hands, and leave a review in the forums if they feel like being the awesomeness, too.
